KUCCPS Portal Opens For Second Revision and New Applications

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened its online portal, allowing students to revise their university and college choices for the 2025 academic year. This phase provides a second chance for those who were not placed during the first revision or missed their initial application. Additionally, new applicants can now apply for government-sponsored slots in universities, colleges, and TVET institutions.

Students and their guardians should note that this portal will remain open until June 6, 2025, and early applications are strongly encouraged.

Who Can Apply for the Second Revision?

The second revision targets specific groups of students:

  • 2024 KCSE candidates who were not placed in the first round.
  • Past KCSE candidates from 2000 to 2023 who have yet to secure placement.
  • Students revising earlier selections to align with their career aspirations.

Students already placed in the first round should prepare for their upcoming admissions, as they are not eligible for this revision.

How to Revise University and College Choices

KUCCPS has simplified the revision process, ensuring a smooth experience for all applicants. Here is a step-by-step guide:

  1. Log into the KUCCPS Portal
    • Visit KUCCPS Student Portal.
    • Enter your KCSE index number, examination year, and password (typically your Birth Certificate or KCPE index number).
  2. Explore the Application Section
    • After logging in, click on the “Application/Revision” tab to view available programs.
  3. Select Preferred Courses
    • Degree Applicants: Choose up to six courses, including three options (1a, 1b, and 1c) for the same program in different institutions and three alternative programs.
    • Diploma, Certificate, and Artisan Applicants: Pick up to four courses, ranking them by preference.
  4. Verify Eligibility
    • Check your qualifications against the minimum requirements for your selected programs. Use the portal’s cluster points calculator to ensure eligibility.
  5. Complete Payment
    • Pay the application fee through M-PESA:
      • First-Time Applicants: Ksh 1,500.
      • Returning Applicants: Ksh 1,000.
      • Use Pay Bill Number 820201 and your KCSE year and index number as the account number.
    • Keep the transaction code for future reference.
  6. Submit Your Application
    • Confirm all your details and submit your choices. Double-check to avoid errors that could delay processing.

Important Details for Applicants

KUCCPS only displays programs with available slots on the portal. Students should carefully review their options and avoid selecting ineligible courses. Furthermore, calculating cluster points for each program will help applicants make informed decisions. To avoid unnecessary stress, ensure you complete your application well before the deadline.

What Happens Next?

After the application portal closes, KUCCPS will process all submissions. Placement decisions will depend on an applicant’s preferences, academic qualifications, and program availability. Once placements are finalized, successful applicants will receive notifications. Subsequently, institutions will issue admission letters with detailed reporting instructions.

Available Support for Students

KUCCPS has set up various support channels to assist students:

  • Huduma Centres: Located in major towns, these centers provide personalized assistance.
  • University and College Help Desks: Dedicated staff are available at participating institutions.
  • KUCCPS Official Helpline: Students can reach out through KUCCPS’s website or social media platforms for guidance.

By utilizing these resources, students can resolve any challenges they encounter during the application process.

Strategies for Successful Placement

To increase the chances of securing a government-sponsored slot, students should:

  • Research Programs: Learn about program requirements and career prospects.
